Oily Waste Can

Oily Waste Can

As oil dries in a discarded rag, it produces heat. The air inside the folds of the rag combines with the fumes to form a combustible mixture. Under the right conditions, the rag will spontaneously ignite. Of course, there are other sources of ignition. Sparks generated in a workshop environment can fall onto oily rags. Even carelessly discarded smoking materials can provide the source for ignition.

Cloths, wipes and cleaning rags used in ordinary activities across many industries are potential sources of fire. They contain solvents, linseed oil, combustible adhesives, and other flammable liquids. These present a serious fire risk when improperly discarded. Dispose of these items safely with a Justrite Oily Waste Can.

Description

The lid on the can opens to no more than 60 degrees and stays closed when not in use, isolating contents from fire sources and limiting oxygen to virtually eliminate the risk of spontaneous combustion. Round construction and elevated base allow circulation of air around can to disperse heat and reduce moisture build-up and rusting. Durable steel construction with a powder-coat finish provides chemical resistance. Ten-year warranty.

Foot operated models open the lid without the use of hands.

SoundGard™ oily waste cans include a sound muffling pad inside lid to significantly reduce lid-closure noise. Ideal for laboratories or anywhere it is desirable to lessen disruptive noise.
